Talk about dedication!

This guy resuscitated his dead hard drive by replacing the logic board; couldn't bear the thought of losing three months' worth of saved Neverwinter Nights.

That's a lot of effort... I would have just given up... But then I'm not fanatic about anything that may be lost on my hard drive. I do backup to CD-R...

Wonder what he would have done if the disks themselves were fritzed.

Does make one wonder about the variablity of drive internals, though.

edit: BTW, opening drives out of clean room situations is not a good idea. While they spin up now, for a while, any minor bits of fluff, dirt, grit or dust that got into the mechanisms....

I hope he does regular backups now!!
