shutdown question

ok i have a gateway computer and it is a pentuim 2 and and it has windows xp is there a way i can shut it down myself instead of it shutting down itself thanks

ok i mean you no how you push the shutdown button and some computers shutdown there self is there a way that i can manauly shut it down myself

go to start> control panel> click power options> then click the advance tab. at the bottom when i press the power button

press the drop down menu and click shut down

sorry i mean that you no how the old computers say it is now safe to shutdown your computer and you have to press the power button to turn it off how do you get it to do that

Go to your Power Options and look for an APM (Advanced Power Management) tab, there should be a checkbox in there to do it.

i dont see apm in my power options

Do you have ACPI enabled in your BIOS (if you enable or disable that at this time, you'll most likely need to re-install Windows)
