Wats up wit maxtor.

I bought a HD from my neighbor. It was pretty much new never used. Well when i got it it had bad sectors. Well after i formated it they were gone. Well recently i tried to reformat it and itr had more bad sectors. This time it wouldn't let me reformat so i make an rma and send my HD back. Well they send me a new one. Well this one didn't evern work period. This sux. Now i have to wait another week+ for my HD to come back.

you can find the same complaint from any HD manufacturer...just happens sometimes.

Maxtors are dying on a lot of people I know lately. I had one go. A buddy had 2 go. And Maxtor is unloading all of their IDE drives cheap lately. Makes me wonder if they know there's a problem.

I've never had a problem with either Maxtor or Quantum. WD is a different story.

You didn't buy it brand new, so beggers can't be choosers.

i hear it's mostly only happening to diamond max 9s.

all this maxtor talk is really making me worried, as i bought a 40gig recently (dm8, but still a maxtor!)
