Sound card problems

Right now i'm on a compaq presario 800 mhz computer with some crappy soundmax audio card, and the problem that i'm having is about 3-4 hours after resetting my compy, my computer stops playing .wav/.midi files all together. I'm also unable to voice chat in aim or yahoo because of this. Anything that might be causing it? I have the most up to date drivers currently.

How much RAM do you have?

Also programs and apps running the background?

What OS are you running? Check if Compaq released new drivers for your soundcard.

Sounds like glitchy drivers to me.

Ok, something more helpful than "crappy soundmax audio card" would help too. Like the model number of the Compaq.

I believe the board that you have is this one from FIC . Check out the FIC site for updated drivers http://www.fica.com/
