Building a computer, first time, need help

Alright, in a couple of months i'm coming into some money (birthday + inheritence) so I plan on building a new computer. Currently i'm on an 800 Mhz compaq presario (feel free to laugh) and obviously it runs like crap. So I want to build my own, I have prior experience with fixing/upgrading computers, so I doubt that will be a problem, but I need help on choosing the parts, heres what I am thinking so far:

Case:
Raidmax Black 10-Bay ATX Mid-Tower Case w/ Front USB 2.0, Model 289WBP(Black) - Retail

Cd drives:
Sony CDRW/DVD Combo Drive Model CRX300E/A OEM

Hard Drives:
WD WESTERN DIGITAL EIDE HARD DRIVE 120GB 7200RPM MODEL # WD1200BB -Caviar OEM, DRIVE ONLY

Memory:
CRUCIAL MICRON 512MB 64x64 PC 3200 DDR RAM - OEM (2x)

Motherboard:
MSI Motherboard for AMD Processors Model K7N2 Delta-L Retail

Processor:
AMD ATHLON XP 2800 "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- OEM

Video Card:
ATI RADEON 9500 PRO 128MB DDR DVI AGP RETAIL

This is all from newegg. I am taking any and all suggestions. I have yet to picks a regular cd rom drive, so any suggestions on that would be nice too. I'll probably be pulling the floppy that's in my current computer and putting it in the new when I build it.

Any suggestions will be helpful. This is just what I have seen so far that looks good/reviews said were good.

Total budget = ~1000-1300 though i'd like to keep it lower than that

Looks like a good config to me. For a regular CD-ROM drive go with LG. I have had ZERO problems with those drives in many different hardware configs so go with that and you should be okay.

Well, welcome to the forum!

First thing I notice is the hard drive....what you need to do is hang out in the "Docs Deals" forum on this site and watch for some hard drive specials...cuz that hard drive is on special every month or so. A good way to save some bucks right there.

Welcome to TIMO!

Looks good. I would get a DVD drive though. A Lite On 16X DVD Drive at Newegg is less than $50.

Oh, I didn't see that, sorry. I'm using both a CDRW and a DVD drive.

Whats a good dialup modem that's compatible with both windows and linux? I'm stuck on dialup, cable/dsl aren't available in my area.

Also about the tower, is it very good? Friend said it was ok, but anyone here have any experiences with it? If not, what would be a good choice for a tower? Something with lots of room is preferred.
