K7S5A power with fans no video :
OK me old chinas this is me problem read n reply if u will b so nice:
first time i booted up it worked ok i could go into bios then all of a sudden i had no video, couldnt understand why, these are the things i tried:
disconecting everything apart from cpu, ram and gfx card and booting, still had no luck,
i tried a pci gfx card and wow it came on again but then when turned it off after bios it wouldnt boot, and yeh reseting cmos didnt work either,
i bought a 400w psu that didnt make a difference tho when i took the cpu out and wiped a bit of the thermal compound and resat it it booted up and i had no problems changed the cpu and ram mhz to 133 so it saw my XP 2400, but then i would get random poweroffs my pc would just turn off for no reason not over heating cos temp was less than 50,
put the mhz back down to 100mhz and it reconsigned the cpu as a XP 1800 i had no problems till the other day where it turned off while playing vice city, turned it back on loaded up vice city again minute later turned off, i was like ****sake lol.
anyhow when i went to turn it on again nothing happened, power came on to fans cdrom and hdd but no signal to monitor,
so i tried another agp gfx card and another pci gfx no luck.
tried unpluging everything apart from cpu ram and gfx crd .. no luck
tried unpluging EVERYthing so mobo just had power ... not even a single beep. i was fuming,
so i went to shop n bought the same mobo (i originaly bought my first one online in a deal with cpu and didnt hav time to send it back yet, i got a lan party next week n i needed to get it working)
put the new mobo in and just power. no luck
changed the psu back to 300w - no luck
the mobo dont even beep neither of them do, the only thing thats left is the CPU but i cnt try another till the lan party.
if any 1 has any ideas please help lol

Even if the CPU is bad you still should get beeps from the mobo.
Is the PC speaker hooked up correctly so that you will hear the beeps?

Not that it should make any difference but have you tried swapping the ram out.
I have read other posts on this problem (wont run @ 133) and a few of them reported problems were mem related.

My wifes had a problem running 133/133, but it was an old 3.0 version of the mobo, a BIOS update fixed it, until the motherboard died that is.
Is it a purple version or brown board? Quote: |
turned it back on loaded up vice city again minute later turned off,
| Also you should edit the phrase after that sentence, even tho the language filters are not turned on here, the language is not allowed (esp. since it is not needed to help with the problem.)

If you are in Canada, then NO, asus suck, if you are in the US, then they are good boards, I personally stick to Epox or K7S5A's.
The brown version is 3.0 and it is the one with difficulties running at 133/133, As I said I flashed the BIOS on my wifes (running Athlon 1Ghz 133 model at the time) and it worked fine until the board died a horrible death.
Note, if you have SDram, you will have to replace it since all KT266 and up chipsets use DDR. Oh and if your chip is a tbredB (which it looks like) then the 8RDA+ from epox or the A7N8X board from Asus are good choices as you can run up the speed of your processor easily with them.
