Why do you need to inform why you are shuting down or restarting the computer!? Its insane! Its like MS is watching you!

I know there's a way to do it... I did it on my 2003 partition. I just have to boot up my 2003 partition.

Be right back...

Here's what you do...

Start menu, Run

Type: gpedit.msc

Expand Computer Configuration, select System

In the right hand pane set these two options to disabled:

"Display Shutdown Event Tracker"

"Activate Shutdown Event Tracker System State Data Feature"

That will do it. It worked on my 2003 partition.

While that can get annoying for the person running 2003 as a desktop system it is an AWESOME addition for those of us that are admins of systems. It provides for good tracking of WHY a system was shutdown/rebooted when we have to make accountings of why things occur to the systems under our control.

Exactly, at work I leave that "feature" on for that exact reason. For my testing purposes here at home, I've shut that off... Very annoying.
