Streaming media

I know this can be done, but how would you go about doing this?
I have been looking at sites about it, I'm curious what's the best way to go about capturing streaming media? Any programs i should be aware of or any that i should give a try?
Thanks for any help

There used to be a tool called streamripper http://streamripper.sourceforge.net that will work for shoutcast servers. Don't know about other formats.

wmp6.4, click 'file'->'save as'.

I have never a seen a mpg streamed with an intermediate direction file (like asx is for asf). So, clicking an mpg will load the file in wmp and you can click and save it. (I don't recall having that option in wmp7)

no problem Jeordiewhite cause atuaclly i had to find a program for work that would record what you were looking for. Expect most the freeware out there wouldnt work cause they had no setup for networks that use proxy servers.

Well, 7-8-9 all don't have that save option for streaming media and i'm in windows server 2003, so i don't have that option.
I had been wanting this video for later, my buddy ended up calling compuware for this dev partner video and ordering it.
Tho this still was a good learning experience as I was wondering how to capture streaming media.
So far that asf recorder is working great.
