Xbox related "modding" (playing mp3s via ethernet)

I'm moving shortly into apartment and once I'm there I will put my Klipsch 5.1 speakers in the living room with my TV and Xbox.

I have a lot of mp3s on my computer though which I would like to be able to play in my living room over my Klipsch- but can't really run a long audio cable from my bedroom to my living room.

Is there any way to be able to access my mp3s on the network via my xbox and then have it put audio to my Klipsch's? I am aware of the underground modding methods wherein you install a flavor of Linux on your xbox and that will do it- but is there a way that does not void the xbox warranty?

Conversely, I have a mini-reciever (preamp), the Klipsch DD 5.1. It can take RCA Analong inputs as well as coax and optical digtal inputs (but the optical will be taken up by the xbox). I saw some devices before which can grab mp3s via ethernet and have output for them to be played on a home theater- are these products any good and how much do they cost?

I'd really like to find a solution to this- thanks!

Burn some Mp3's to a CDRW and then copy them to the Xbox, I have attempted to mod my Xbox also, I had a good understading of what to do but my PC would not read the XBox's hdd. I could have modded my xbox's HDD to be available on the network if it was not for the HDD complication, I will read up on some more.
