A7N8X Deluxe and Linux

Some basic searching brings up the fact that linux and this motherboard are not very compatible right now. I currently have this motherboard and am in Linux right now. In other words it works, but not all the way. No onboard sound, no onboard NIC (PCI 3com NIC being used for now), no nothing.

However, I found a guy how has found a solution for redhat linux, but I'm in Mandrake 9. Is it much different, and would you linux gurus even think it's worth it right now?

the nForce2 chipset will almost inevitably gain linux support in a matter of time, but I kinda want sound, now.

I just got this board today. I think I will be putting Redhat 9 on it tonight. I'll post how that goes.

I think if you search around Mandrake support forums for a while you'll find a solution. Most distrobutions have solutions for it at this point...they're just hidden in support forums.

Thanks for the heads up on the Linux drivers.

RH9 installed pretty smoothly last night. The only problem I found so far was that the Nvidia LAN wasn't there.
