Windows XP SP2

Has anyone heard anything about when SP2 for XP might be available?

I have almost 2 dozen Pre-SP2 fixes installed.

It's getting as high as the number of fix packs the software my company makes... Well, actually no. My company has 160+ fix packs for the software. Scary isn't it? (BTW, I'm not joking about the 160+ fixes)

Sean

Yes, Sean
Its suppose to be due on late 2003, soon
I heard it will get new fixes and patches in combined with some problemm fixes as well...Also heard that its going to include something new about the user switching, besides that no new "visual" changes. Hopefully it will speedup XP and make it extra stable since SP1 was almost a dissaster for most of the people. Hopefully SP2 will change a lot of XPs problems and weird stuff... but I doubt it, lol

p.s. Stay tuned in the site winsupersite.com, Paul always is tuned to date, and you can always contact him via email to ask him your doubts, nice guy

LOL! thats exactly what I am thinking, Microsoft is getting very bad in their Service Packs! SP1 was a total DISSASTER! Was huge to download (although I have LAN!) and it gives you so many problems. I dont believe Microsoft will make SP2 better...doubt that

Thanks for the info!!

I agree that SP1 was a bit of a mess for some people. I have yet to have a problem but friends have had problems.

Hopefully they won't bother with blocking pirated copies of Windows from downloading the SP. It didn't work on the first version, ways around it were available very quickly. Not a problem for me, I do have a licensed copy just saying though.

I have yet to experience any problems with Service Pack 1. In fact, I "slipstreamed" it into my XP install disk, so a fresh install of XP includes SP1. Not only that, it's good to have USB 2.0 drivers from the beginning of the installation, so any devices plugged into my USB 2.0 card are recognized immediately.

Care to elaborate on the slipstreaming process you're using there? I'm pretty interested in know how you did that. If I have to manually install XP on some of the slower boxes at work it takes almost as long to install SP1 as it does Windows itself.

Is there anyway to "Slipsteam" the seemingly infinite number of Post-SP1 fixes as well?
