Ok, that makes a little more sence. I couldn't imagine an operating system that would sell that takes 15min to boot. But even 15min. to install sounds a little too good to be true.

What's so special -- well, AFAIK, Longhorn will use a 3-dimensional desktop, so what does that mean? Well, it'll be DX9, so if you don't have a DX9 compatible video card, you won't be able to use the 3-d desktop, however, you'll still be able to use Longhorn, not to worry, which will use a 2-d desktop where it'll use DX7.

To add to what Poopeyhed said, Longhorn will have a 3D powered desktop. In other words it will operate much like OS-X does in that the GPU is taking most of the graphics related action that is happening on the desktop instead of the CPU taking the load. So for instance semi transparancy currently brings any version of windows to its knees because the CPU is taking the whole load. With Longhorn the GPU will do it all so your computer will continue to run smooth as butter!
