E-mail- Dial out

I have tried to send e-mail from Outlook 6.0. The modem is dialing out but I am not able to connect to the remote computer i.e ISP's server.I checked the account detail,all is OK.I redialed about 20 times and I still cannot connect to the server. I have another computer with broadband internet access on a LAN with the same account deetails. I have no problenms sending and receiving email from this computer.

I looked a the Port setting for the dial up email described above and it is set to COM 3. Is this correct ? should I be using COM1 or COM2 ? What else do I need change to dial out?

What is the 3 digit error code?

Example: "Error 691 - Invalid Username or password"

I did not get an error code only a yellow triagnle sign with a black ! next to it a message :"Check for messages on 'accountname' "
I clicked on the task and error tabs but no ifuther details were listed.

I simply cannot connect to server.

Judging from your first post, it looks like you are not connected to the internet when you are trying to check mail. Do you get an error when you are dialing?

Yes I get an error when dialing up the ISP.Cannot connect to remote computer.

Does that error box have the 3 digit number in it?
