how do i add echo to windows,

i know its reverb in windows me but in xp i can't find it, when im listening to music i like to hear a little echo just a bit, where do i do this at

Ehm, it depends if your sound device supports that kind of effects. If it does it should be available in the mixer program. Just make sure to check the "advanced settings" thing.

There's a big dif between reverb and echo. Which one are you looking for? And like our good friend Agent_Embryo said, it depends on the abilities of your soundcard.

it has it but windows had detected my sound card so i had no need to install from cd

I think it depends on the software. WinMe was for mostly multimedia such as music and videos so there was alot of stuff fit for that.

software that came with my creative card allowed me to do things such as echo effects.

I haven't tested it to see if it works yet cuz i'm on a cpu that has no speakers at the moment.

basically all i think u need is some freeware shareware software that has that capability and you should be set.

The reason you're not getting your echo is because you are using the Microsoft WDM drivers. These are the ones that install with XP. They will allow your soundcard to work, but it dosen't have any of the advanced features that come with the manufacturer's driver. For example, I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy. If you simply stick with the drivers Microsoft installs, you don't get the 5.1 surround sound or DSP effects such as echo and reverb. What you need to do is visit the manufacturer web site for the sound card(i.e. Creative) and download the newest Windows XP driver for that card. Then you will get all the features that you paid for.
