Very good informative link. I will probably check it out a bit more when I wake up. (er I have to go to sleep first, right? )

I hope I learn some neat tricks when I take Intro to Unix in the Fall.

Ah that's cool. I start on the 25th. I have a pretty easy schedule so I should be in good shape.
Have been messing with Linux for the past couple of weeks. Have Mandrake running just about the way I want it to. Slowly but surely making Debian run the way I want it to as well.

I hope the class is good. I know what it's like to have a horrible teacher. It's just not a good/fun experience. (ESPECIALLY when you're paying for the classes).

-Much more than just talk about Linux, beyond the introduction and history, this link begins a somewhat exhaustive set of lessons on the basics of a Linux system.

This study could almost prepare someone for the Comptia Linux+ certification exam.

About freaking time someone put up a n00b guide for free! It seems like I've searched everywhere and can't seem to figure out how to finish installing my Asus board in Linux. I didn't want to ask, because if I did, I wouldn't necessarily know what to do with the suggestions I was given!

I'll read it and see what "level" it is...

What we can say about dual booting

Quote:
Summing up, I recommend Linux only installations. Linux has become quite "mature" as an end-user operating system, so I find these stories about being "weaned" off Windows to be ridiculous. (the exception, supposedly, being those who run the financial software 'Quicken'). If you've bought a new car, you don't have to be "weaned" off that. You just trade in the old one and start driving the new one. The graphic user interfaces available plus the ever growing numbers of productivity applications (office suites, browsers, email applications, etc.) make it such that a MS Windows user could have his/her workstation switched with a Linux machine overnight and they would barely break a sweat getting used to it. Everything works very much in the same way.
I'm dual booting... But I can't exactly just let my website just, um, "go away", as the guy's already paid me half up front...
