New "democratic" search engine

http://www.pandia.com/searchworld/index.html

This article was written about us on Tuesday. We were wondering what everyone here thinks about our new
search engine rating technology? Any help or ideas would be appreciated :-)

It's a nice concept. I'll use it, but only if it has the amount of pages and directory listings as Google.

Thanks for the support. We've found that other search engines have too much data. We only want quality data so we started with a smaller base on purpose.

When a critical mass of people add their favorite web sites with real and useful data you will see only quality results without irrelevant results. Our main goal right now is to show people how easy it is to rate and add sites during the normal course of surfing the web. Our beta toolbar will be released soon and adding a site along with a few keywords will be super easy.

We understand your comment all too well and are have lots of good ideas to get people excited about adding and rating.

How do you prevent nefarious ratings, though? Could I run up rating on my site by flooding with ratings?

Interesting idea, though, but for now I'll stick with google, as it has a depth and breadth I haven't yet seen matched for searching anywhere else.

Be watching development of your search engine's capabilities, though.

Oh, BTW - we don't allow site or program advertisements in tech posts here, if you read the FAQ's. You should PM a mod or admin and explain your purpose for this thread, or it may be taken down.

Cheers
Mick

Mick -

We randomize rating so this won't happen. We also have some other good systems in place to prevent unfair rating.

Sure, Google is a great engine for searching - especially obscure searching. We don't expect people to use NetNose everyday - it's a good alternative search engine. As we get to that critical mass of data we hope to change your mind. When people visualize the long term goal of relevant data they understand where we are coming from.

Thank you sir :-)

Yes, this is not our goal - we will look into what is expected. We need feedback on what is wrong more than what people like about NetNose so we can fix problems before we leave beta. Please keep finding the bugs.
