videocard?

I plan on getting this videocard because im building a new PC this summer:

VGA CHAINTECH Geforce FX 5200 128MB DDR . RETAIL BOX

I will definatly update it before doom3 comes out in March.

Im also considering:

EVGA GeForce FX5200 ULTRA 128MB DDR TV/DVI

but if i get this one i will not update my card when doom3 comes out.

What would be better buy the cheaper card now and update later or buy the more expensive one and not update?

Depends a lot on what you have now.

A FX 5200 may not run Doom 3 very well...so it might not be a good idea to update now.

By March you'll easily be able to get a card that will handle Doom 3 and much more for a lot cheaper than they are now.

I would go for the 5600Fx or the 9600ATi if you are planning on Doom3. I think that the FX5200 would be a tad slow for that game.

I would have to agree. A 5200 might be a tad slow. I hope my 9700 will beable to play it at full specs.
