Is Mozilla or Opera worth the pain?
Hey Mates,
I was wondering since many people from this forum and others have taken the choice of stop using IE (internet explorer) because they think it is bad and they prefer the others such as Opera or Mozilla (even Netscape is an option I have heard =P)
I was wondering since I have used IE all my life, never used the other ones, is it worth a try? Why should I change in the first place? which one if I do? Opera or Mozilla, or even Netscape? I get confused since many people have different opinions but on the other hand thats great too. I have heard that Opera is the pretiest, Mozilla the safest and so on. True statements or bullshit? I really wants to know since last past time IE have so many holes, bugs, and other crap that really shouldnt exist.

All three are great browsers, Netscape and mozilla are basically the same browser with the acception that netscape has some built in aol ties, ie ICQ and AIM messengers. Both can be skinned in several different skins {check mozilla.org} but they are both built on the same engine. Mozilla is just a sleeker build.
Opera is a great little browser but had one flaw when I tried it, there was an annoying banner ad that you had to pay to get rid of. Other than that I liked it.
They both are very similar in interface and design and personally I'd suggest trying both mozilla and opera. Use the latest version of both and see what you think for yourself. The d/l time is basically all your gone to be wasting.

Been using Mozilla for almost, 2 years ( I think). I ain't never going back. Mozilla isn't perfect. It has it's own little idiosyncrasies that are sometimes annoying. But nice thing is, Mozilla is a work in progress. Things are getting fixed and fine tuned all along the way.
What I love about Mozilla is it's customizable (tweakable) beyond belief. In it's config menu (about :config) there are over 1,500 user customizable settings. You don't need to touch them at all. But for those of us that like to tinker, there is no better browser.

The pain
Alternative browsers are the way to go!
There's plenty of rantings on here regarding why to (run away) move away from IE.
Security is a HUGE issue that I have against IE.
Opera is a breeze to use and navigating is so much faster with mouse gestures I can't survive without them!

If you are going to go the Mozilla route, look for "Mozilla Firebird". It's slimmed down a bit - the Mozilla browser without all the huge email, news, chat, etc. programs that normally come with it.

I love Mozilla. Now I just use IE for Windows Update and flash sites (I didn't install the flash plugin for Mozilla, but it's available)

Mozilla Firebird (as opposed to Mozilla SeaMonkey) is the way to go if you're looking for performance. It's got a really bright outlook ahead. Mozilla 1.6 should be a really interesting release.

And some of us actually use those email and chat programs. Anywayws, you're certainly not forced to use them. And they have no effect what-so-ever on the operation of the standard browser. [shrug]

I say don't switch .....
I've used them all, and yes they are good, but there's nothing wrong with IE.
if you need all the xtra features, just install avant browser = www.avantbrowser.com
as far as security is concerned..... if you have good browsing habbits, there's no worry.
