setting up sata?

Hi all, I just got a new abit ic7-g mobo, and I want to set up my new hard drive in SATA. The mobo came with an IDE -> SATA connector, as well as all the cables, and it seems simple enough, but I just had a few quick questions.

In the back of the ide -> sata convertor, there's a part to connect the sata cable and a 4 pin power connector. The mobo also came with a cable of the 4 thin pins on one end and a regular 4 pin molex on the other; do I need to connect that power port on the connector in addition to the regular pin molex connector on the hard drive?

Also, I assume that the mobo will immediately recognize the hard drive, right?

Thanks!

Sorry I don't know. But does your MB manual or website or the SATA drive website identify how you should connect these devices?

On a Western Digital Raptor, there is the standard SATA connector, and the new SATA power connector. Also, WD provided the "legency" 4 pin. You do not need to connect the "legency" 4 pin if you have the new style power connector support.
