I think someone is stealing my bandwith

On Kazaa, I can only find files that have 936 and below bandwith. RCN says I should get up to 1500. Could someone be stealing my bandwith?

936 what?

You need to realize, when you download on kaaza you are downloading from other members. NOT websites that have large amounts of bandwidth.

most people out there who use p2p have cable, dsl, and dial up. (yes there is some out there with t1 and what not for high speeds but this is unlikley)

the average upload speed for dsl and cable is around 15- 35 K.

btw is this a spin off of this thread? http://www.techimo.com/forum/t75088.html

NOt at all. I am aware of those facts, friend. When you search, the higher teh bandwith, the more people with fast internet have that. Theoretically, I should be able to find higher bandwiths, and RCN said someone could be stealting my bandwith.

high bandwidth downloading is not the same as the uploading

just because you have cable doesnt mean you will upload fast. cable companies usually limit you upload for customers

But if you want to persist in figuring this out, what is your network setup? Do you have a firewall to protect your network?

why not go somewhere like this
http://webservices.cnet.com/bandwidth/
and test your bandwidth, kazaa seems to be a pretty bad place to measure how fast you can download.
Or download an actual file from somewhere big that will give good speeds.
