Talk Got my 9700!

What a card! Got it in yesterday, had no problems deleting nvidia drivers or installing new ones. Its made by powercolor but looks like an ATI spec. Pulling around 11,000 3d marks. Previously I had a tnt2, so this is a huge performance jump. All my games play flawlessly at highest settings(MOHAA, BF1942, RTCW, ect.) Its got Samsung memory modules, anyone know if they are any good? Like nanosecs, speed ceiling? I'll find the numbers on em and post em later if that helps. Also, does it have a temperature thing I can access? I know the nvidia cards have em, dont see it in the ATI panel.

Well, I don't know about the rest of it, but you can usually tell from the numbers on the memory chips how fast the chips are rated to run. Post 'em up and we'll figure it out!

11,000 3Dmarks? Sounds like a T-Bird 1400 or so...

Have fun with it!

I'll bet with enough tweaking and overclocking I can pull 11,000 with my 2600+ and GF3 Ti 200...got 10,000 easy enough.

Betcha re-installing Windows would yield better scores

Wow from a tnt2 to a 9700 that is a very big jump. Poor Mb does not know what hit it.

XP 2000+, but the mobo only supports 4x agp, so thats a bottleneck. I'll post the # as soon as I can. Got some friends that are playing with it right now. They be f00ls, think Tony Hawk is one of the best games and consoles rock.

4x AGP isn't a bottleneck... 8x cards perform virtually the same when set to 8x AGP or 4x agp... The bottleneck is your processor, and possibly your motherboard chipset (what kind is it anyway?) My old system scored 11.8k points with a XP2100+@2700+, Ti4400, and a KT333 based motherboard (both board and card are 4x)

New system does around 13.8k points (can go to 14 if I OC high enough) and thats with the same video card, XP2500+@3200+ and a nForce2 motherboard... Now in this case the board is capable of 8x, but its set to 4x since thats all the card is capable of.

Now i'm not saying go uprade your CPU and/or motherboard, 11k 3d mark points is more than enough performance to run any game out right now, but if you did want to take full advantage of it, thats what you'd need to do.

My Ti 4200 128mb is paired with an XP 2500+ and I get 12000+ in 3DMark. Core/mem is OC'd to 305/545. For a budget card, that's great!

I would suggest overclocking your card to 9700 Pro speeds or more, but make sure to get RAMsinks before you do.
