Thoughts / Fixes? infinite loop

Anyone have any ideas or fixes that worked regarding infinite loop errors, System is
Asus P4G8X / intel E7205
3.06 P4 HT
1 GB Dual channel DDR
Abit siluro FX5600 256MB
Sound Blaster Audigy 2

I had no errors after building the above whatsoever, originally had my old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, Then I installed the Audigy 2 and had a lot of problems getting it to work. Had to reformat and reload XP. Finally got the sound working, I think it was IRQ conflict.
Now I started to get infinite loop errors and I am not able to recreate them. Any thoughts on what to try. Have been installing different nvidia drivers and have the latest sound drivers. XP is a clean install. Errors mostly when using Soldier of Fortune 2. Audigy 2 is in PCI slot 2, IRQ 3 no sharing, Video is sharing IRQ 11 with USB controller, and the only other PCI card is a SIL ATA 133 controller in slot 4, sharing IRQ 9. I also installed the Intel application accelerator utility that came on the asus setup cd. Have read other posts here but from what I can see this problem is like a catch 22 due to different hardware combinations? I think the last time I had a infinite loop was on an STB velocity 128 with windows 95. I forgot all about this stuff. Too old I guess.

Is the loop only happening when playing SOF2?

If so, are there any fixes for Soldier of Fortune 2?

Otherwise... I don't have any ideas.

Get rid of the Intel Application Accelerator software and use the standard MS IDE drivers. I'm presuming you are using XP. Happened to me too.
