God knows, my guess is MoBo
This is weird:
I'm throwing together an old machine with parts that worked together 3 weeks ago. The MoBo is Aopen MX64, 800 Mhz P III, 10 GB HDD.
Nothing is connected to the Motherboard except the processor & Ram. I plug in the Power Supply, the lights on the front of the machine light up, and then I press the button and I get nothing. No sounds, no lights on the actual mobo.
The kicker is that when I put the little four pin connector on the WOM- (wake on modem) pins, the power supply fan comes on for 2 secs, and the CPU fan comes on and stays on.
So far I've
Cleared CMOS
Checked the Power Supply
Checked all wiring with the powerup switches
Checked for shorts on the MoBo
Cried
Ive tried to power up without the CPU and just the fan, without both also
AHHH!!
Anything would help.

Basically, I get no signs of life except the led's on the front, and when I put power to the WOM.

Could be the MB. Do you have the manual for it? Got every power thingy in the right place?

Did you connect the 12v connector from the PSu to Mobo? Does this mobo have an onboard Video? Or and Agp? Have you made sure the Cpu and the Rams are seated properly?

I checked the Ram and CPU, no onboard video, it does have an AGP but nothing is hooked up to it now, ---
Do you mean the 12V 20-pin connector? If so, yes that's in place.
Thanks for the responses, this is a new one for me.

Ill give the video card a shot, but it was in originally when i put the whole damn thing together-- who knows-- worth a shot
I don't know what this WOM (wake on modem) thing is, but I dont think it was hooked up before, yet when i give it power to the pins on the moptherboard, the only sign of life Ive seen happens, spinning CPU fan--
Time for the fist to rule out all problems. I should tell the bastid to warn its little component friends too.
