I want to connect two computers and only use one dial up. 1st system Asrock K78SX main board, A M D X P 2ooo c p u with rj45 socket. 2nd system Chaintech CT-7AIA5 mainboard A M D 800mhz c p u, no rj45 socket, it has WO L (wake on lan) connector, both systems have modems and i have a crossover cable. I assume i need a network card for the Chaintech but what sort and how is it fitted

Howdy Hayne

Any PCI slot network interface card (NIC) would do fine, provided you have a spare PCI slot. You could get one that supports WOL if you want to use that feature. A basic PCI NIC will only cost about US$5 I think.

Once you have a NIC installed, go to www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing for ideas about how to share the internet connection.

Or come back here with any questions.

Cheers
Mick

BTW, this should be in Networking and Internet forum. I'll ask a mod to move it for you.
