Ideal CPU Temp (AMD 2500+)
I just built my comp today, specs:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
AMD Athlon XP "Barton" 2500+
1 GIG (2 Sticks) Muskin RAM PC 3200
Western Digital 120GB HD
Lite-On 52x24x52
Anyway, I installed XP and everything, got everything going, installed a few apps, burned a CD, etc. Then I downloaded Motherboard Monitor 5, and I check my CPU temp at it was at 51 Degrees Celsius, which is what its at now, and I was wondering if that is a bit hot, I'm using the heatsink and fan that it came with, but I applied some Arctic Silver 3 today (very thin coat thou). I have two 39 CFM case fans running also. I would like to note that the motherboard's temp is at 25 Degrees Celsius.

Did you take the thermal pad off the stock heatsink before you applied AS3? If not, you may want to look into another HSF so you don't void the warranty by removing the pad from the HSF. Your system temperature looks good, and should yield some better CPU temps.

Yea I took the thermal pad off, it was melted, got as much as I could off with some alcohol. I just checked the AMD website and they said the max temp is 95 Degrees Celsius, so I guess I'm good for now.

You don't want to get anywhere near that though. 51c is considered safe, but I personally wouldn't be able to sleep if my temps were like that (and they were one time)
If you are satisfied though there's no reason to worry about it. If you ever get concerned (what are your LOAD temps by the way?) you could just look into a fair HSF and I'm sure it would get you into the mid to low 40c's easily.

If it gets to even 70 or 80 you know there is a problem.

If it gets over 60c, ever, don't hesitate to get more sufficient cooling. Running at over 60c will shorten the CPUs life greatly and cause it to run poorly for the long run.

Alright, I will keep that in mind, but the only thing I don't want to do is take everything out just to install a new heatsink, I mean, I certainty don't want to install the heatsink while the motherboard is locked in place, I might break it or something.

Depending on the board and it's layout, I preffer putting the heatsink on while it's in the case.
