Need help! PC won't boot

i have a problem with my pc.
Hopefully i canget some answers.

Lost power over the night and when i got up my pc was off. I tried to boot it up and it won't boot. There is also a led on the motherboard that lights up green when it the powersupply is on. So there is power going to the motherboard. This case has happened a couple times when the comp got turned off do to power. But i always got to boot it back up after a couple of tries. Any ideas?

see if this helps...nothing i did so far works. But here is a interesting thing. The power supply does not turn on but the motherboard is getting power to light up the led. All my connections are secure. I tryed to clear cmos. I did the un plus wait and plug in thing again. Any other ideas?

Is there a switch on the back of the PSU? If so try flipping it for a second, then flipping it back and trying.

Do you mean you unplugged the power cord to the PSU when you say "I did the unplug wait and plug in thing again."? It seems like the PSU may need to be reset. But if yo already did that, then I'm not sure.

1: Try resetting the CMOS either via CMOS jumper or removing the CMOS battery
2: Remove everything buy the CPU and RAM from the system and try to boot (remove video and any PCI/ISA cards, disconnect all IDE drives and USB devices). If it boots fine like this, put one part back at a time to see who the offender is.
3: Try another PSU

Good luck. I hate it when you don't know what the problem is.

nope, i did all this. I unplugged cords to the psu waited a few minutes and plugged back in and nothing happened. Took everything off of the motherboard. Leaving it bare and just putting the cpu back in place and plugging in the power supply. Still nothing. Put 1 stick of ram in it and nothing. Popped out battery did the cmos. Everything still nothing. Everything that is said here i have done. Still no boot. I have no idea what to do. i'm lost and very upset.

Sounds like the PSU may have gone south.

No fans spin up when you power up?

lol Not to be rude or anything but I think taking to a local Shop is a bad idea as we all know they will tend to rip you off. And by the looks of this it seems that the PSU has gone south :P Do you have a surge protector? If not you should get one. if you said this has happened a few times. Well good luck I hope you find the problem

yea...they are just running diagnstic tests when they get to it. So they are not fixing it. If i had my own equipment i would do this myself. And yea i haev 2 surge protectors. One plugged into 1 plugged into the wall. hehe
