I just got a new stick of ram... 256 2700/333. it's kbyte brand from microcenter. i'm adding it to my system which was already setup with 256 meg of samsung ram. when i add the new kbyte, the system won't even come up, the hard drive doesn't spin and it beeps and then let's out a groan. i remove it and everything is fine. i've even tried to take out the samsung and run on the kbyte alone. same thing happens. i'm assuming i've got a bad stick? could it be imcompatable? i guess that's what happens when you pay $24.99 for cheap ram?

My system has 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM from K-Byte, that I got for $39.99.

My system has ran great with it!
I think you shouldn't be mixing it with the Samsung, but I'm not sure.

What kind of motherboard is it? (brand name, model#)
Some motherboards are not compatible with certain brands of memory.
That could be the issue...

Why don't you test the RAM with the free utility from Memtest86.com? The Systems manager here has bought KByte memory before and while I can't say if it was bad I can say it wasn't compatible with the laptop we put it in; Memtest gave all kinds of errors within the first three minutes of running it.
