P4 2.4C Running at 2.88GHz!!

Hi guys!

I overclocked my P4 2.4 to 2.88GHz.
Specs:-
P4 2.4Ghz 800Mhz FSB Hyper Threading
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe mobo
1GB DDR 2700 (Running at Dual DDR)
Geforce 4 Ti4800se 128DDR

I'm currently using a Thermaltake Spark 7 Copper HSF
CPU temp is 24C
mobo temp is 25C

are the temps ok?
what is meant by 800mhz front side bus? i think it's running at 200+ mhz bus speed only.

Those temps are really good.... almost too good to belive...

I've got a p4 2.4b @ 2.6ghz

CPU temp: 35c idle
Mobo temp: 35c

And I belive that is pretty good.

200mhz bus = 800mhz bus. Its a publicity stunt, like the 266/333fsb athlons.
So: 400mhz FSB = 100mhz REAL fsb
533 = 133
800=200.

System bus and front side bus don't have to be directly related...sure it's ridiculous that Intel dishes out 533mhz and 800mhz so people think "well that's higher than 266mhz" ... but it all depends on the CPU's architecture

Higher system bus is more powerfull than having a higher fsb.
For instance
One 200mhz system bus/FSB is better than
100mhz double pumped FSB to 200mhz system bus.
Basically higher the "TRUE-single pumped" fsb the bigger the real gains. Intel also needs the 800mhz to keep that HUGE 20 stage pipe full compaired to XP's 10. So twice IS needed!

Before I changed to 2.4C, I was using 2.4B and the temp is 44C at normal load with the same hsf

I wonder why intel advertised 800Mhz. I was so confused. What do you guys mean by "pumped" and "20 stage pipe full"?

I'm pretty skeptical about those temps... I've never seen CPU temps LOWER than the motherboard temps using standard air cooling. Not even on a non-overclocked CPU.

That's what I get from the mobo monitoring utility. It's an ASUS mobo with the utility called ASUS Probe. Shouldn't it be accurate?

Temps could be switched, even if they're still good...are you using anything like CPUIdle?
