WinXP encrypted file problem

I'd never used the file encryption features in Win2K or XP until recently. About a month ago I encrypted the folder (and contents) where I keep all my passwords, account info, serials and other basic private stuff, etc.

I decided to do a format/clean install of WinXP today due to nurmerous problems with nVidia nForce 2.45 UDP. I backed up all the usual stuff to another partition and reinstalled. Unfortunately, the one thing I forgot about was that encrypted folder

Now I can't access any of those files. I can open the folder but can't open any files. It won't let me decrypt or unincrypt them either. Is there some way to fix this and get at my files again?

Nope, no way, never.

You should've exported the key for the folder and import it to the new system for them to be accessible.

There is no known hack for efs.

Before sp3, or maybe sp2, there was a chance to recover the deleted file created during the encryption process.

If this computer was part of an AD domain then there are one of more other accounts that could decrypt it.

So basically, I understand the same thing as muno (no known hacks or way around it).
