Hello...

i have 7 fans in my computer (2psu, 1 cpu, 3 case, 1 vid card)... and i need to add more to cool my computer down...

im thinking of replacing all of them with another brand?? can someone recommend some good cheap but quiet fans??

thanks

btw, will oiling the fans make them quieter?

Well, how about the Glacialtech Igloo for your cpu? I've heard they're pretty quiet and very cheap.

Well, if you plan to replace them all with 'cheap but quiet' fans you are not going to be cooling your system down much more than it probably is already. If you want it cooler, you need to get fans that aren't quiet. Quiet fans may be nice, but don't pull that much air.

You need high RPM fans and unfortunately most high RPM fans are quite high on the decibel scale.

try hunting around at bestbyte.net i had wonderful service w/ speedy shipping and got 2 slk800's 5 zalman 80mm fans w/ removable voltage regulators [quiet factor] for really good prices

the zalman fans are like 4 bucks or something, and you can get a fan controller to control one of your 3 pin fan velocities.. really helpful.

PS: Get an antec True Power (not cheap, but its quiet - well worth the money)

Case Fans: Check out Vantek Stealth (they don't move that much air, but they are quiet)

Vid Card: Depends on the card - if its a GF3 or lower, try a Vantec Iceberg (copper)

CPU: (Assuming you're talking an AMD system) Try a Speeze Falcon Rock - cheap, quiet, and cools well

First of you need to find out what fans in your case are making the most noise...
Second, Yes oiling a squealing or older noisy fan will reduce the noise as long as the noise is caused by the bearing being dry...I have fixed many older fans this way.
Third, Increasing the size of the fan used will usually up the CFM and lower the DBL
