Quick question about RAM.

Hey all I am putting 2 x 256 MB RAM of Corsair XMS in my system, my problem is my brother is willing to sell me 512 MB for 40 bucks and I want all 3 sticks. He said he got it from PCG Enterprise but thats all he knows about the manufacturing.


CORSAIR XMS = 256 MB PC2700 333Mhz x 2
PCG = 512 MB PC2700 333mhz


Will these sticks work in unison giving me 1028? Would really like to know this before I buy my brothers stuff.

i don't see why not, i have used 512, 128, and 64MB sticks all in one system at the same time, all at different timings: 66, 100, 133, all running at 100MHz, so i can imagine that you'll do just fine.

i have used 3 different brands of ram at the same time as well, so i would say go ahead and buy your brother's ram

Ok Thanks, I didnt want to get the CORSAIR then find out it wont work because it has to run with same kind of RAM. I'll just go ahead and buy then

yes they will play nice togther

but I believe you lose the paird advantage if you add the 3rd one but more ram means more speed.

Instead of start a new thread I will ask in here, whats the best video card for your buck? I was gonna get the

Connect3d ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 8xAGP 128 MB for $130 from newegg, is that a bad idea or should I get something else? I really want a Radeon, dont know which company or which one i should get for performance. Comp is mainly for gaming.
