Gaming defrag problems...

well i defragged my HD 4 times with the normal Windows defrag program, nothing happened, so i thought ok, maybe something stops it, so i changed to O&O defragger, it looked like an awsome program, i defragged my c:\ partition in 10 minutes three times and i had only 500 fragmented files left (and i had 5000!!) so i tried this program at my second partition e:\ and it worked 2 hours (different defrag method) but it did nothing! it stayed on the same fragmented files like at the start of the defrag, i did that just once because it's no fun anymore

so has got anyone an idea??

i have enough free space, more than the program wanted (more than 10 %) i deleted most of the big files, and i had no other program open like antivirus, so what can i do??

reboot and go into safe mode...then there will be less chance of conflicting programs accessing HD

I use O&O Defragger and it works well under XP. Sometimes this kind of trouble may happen.

Either do it in safe mode (inconvenient) or use task manager to stop all unnnecessary programs and then do it.
