If I recall benchmarks, I think the 9000 Pro was faster then the FX 5200 in most tests.

It's the 9100. Positively.

Here's the specs, including core size and transistor count:

Radeon 9000 Pro

Core: 275
Mem: 275 DDR
TMU per pipe/pipes: 1/4
Memory Bandwidth: 8.8 GB/s
Size/Transistors: .15/36 million

Radeon 9100

Core: 250
Mem: 250 DDR
TMU per pipe/pipes: 2/4
Memory Bandwidth: 8.0 GB/s
Size/Trans: .15/60 million

Radeon 9200 SE

Core: 200
Mem: 166 DDR
TMU per pipe/pipes: 1/4
Memory Bandwidth: 5.3 GB/s
Size/Trans: .15/36 million

GeForce FX 5200

Core: 250
Mem: 200 DDR
TMU per pipe/pipes: 2/2
Memory Bandwidth: 6.4 GB/s
Size/Trans: .15/45 million

Those numbers should make it obvious. Although the 9000 Pro has a faster core and memory, as well as bandwidth, you can see that it has a lot less core.

Really? I don't doubt the other two, but the Parhelia outpaces the upper end Wildcats from 3dLabs for this?

The Wildcat cards are primarily for 3D workstations, out of the realm of consumer level cards. Whole different level than we are talking about here.

Anyway, while I can't quote benchmarks offhand, I do know that the upper end Wildcats are pushing $900us, and geared for 3D rendering. I can't say for certain that Parhelia is faster in 2D, but I think it is. I'll see what I can dig up on it....

Can't find a thing directly comparing the Parhelia to the Wildcat in 2D CAD.
Can't find any 2D benches on the Wildcat at all. Everything I am finding published is regaurding 3D rendering speeds.

Hmm, I know what you mean. It's like trying to find game benchmarks for the Wildcats - nobody who has one seems to use them outside of their intended use. For the money, I guess it would be that way, though.

edit - Looks like you lost some posts! there's some threads in the community addressing this. My whole account got lost!
