Dual CD-RW's?

Is it possible to burn 2 CD's at once using 2 internal burners? I'm thinking of getting a 52X burner and selling the factory Dell 40X, but I've got a big project coming up for a friend, and burning 2 CD's at once would be looovely. Is it possible to use them both at the same time? Thanks!

Burning CD's is processor intensive. If you were to run two at the same time (and I've never tried it), I don't think it would be any faster than just using one (if it works), unless you have a multiprocessor motherboard.

I'm not sure. Perhaps but make sure you put them on separate IDE chains though (i.e. don't put them both on the same IDE cable). You'll probably have to use two different CD writer softwares, as having two copies of the same one open may cause problems.

I would suggest doing a few trials to make sure they do work together.

Also, make sure both have BUFFER UNDERFLOW PROTECTION or whatever it's called.

I've done it , but I was using dual AMD MP 1500's with 768 megs of ram and it went well.
And they were on different IDE channels.
But I think if you are running a 2 gig + cpu with a lot of memory you should be o.k.

So this is something large enough that you would save a lot of time by burning two discs at once? Seems like 3-4 minutes per CD is fast enough where it won't slow you down.

I'm pretty sure nero will support multiple burning at once, also i have a burning app called "click n burn" which i know supports multiple burning at onces (it supports up to about 10 burning jobs at once i think...)

Not sure what ssys requirements would be needed though... Just yeh you have have to make sure the source (harddisk) and both burners have their own channels...
