Welcome to TechIMO!

DON'T SHOUT!!

Assuming that the 98 is and has not been on the MB you are using you may have some problems and may have to start from scratch. 98 has to be installed first before 2K.

The best way IMO is to install the 98 drive as the master and the other HD as a slave. 2K is not going to boot because the boot ini file on the master has no reference to 2K and will not show as an OS.

Re-install 2K and you should be good to go.

Bill

BTW, I am assuming one drive has 2K and one has 98 already installed.
Others will fill in any blanks or omissions from me.

No reason to do it. really..just causes too many conflicts. I like it better with just one OS...and use my second HD for pics/music etc...

Thats not the point if you want to dual boot. There are reasons to do so and its usually painless if you follow the rules.

Some programs do not run on 2K and will on 98. Same with some printers. I know, been there.

PC Anywhere comes to mind. Why should I buy a new program if it runs fine on 98?

Besides, some peeps run 98 and having it installed and running it gives me the chance to try and help someone with a problem.

It will work just fine. It will prompt you on what OS to boot into.

I screwed up a dual boot of mine. I had Win2k on the main hard drive then I put Linux on the secondary hard drive. Couldn't get WINE to work (I check if I can do it every so often) so I formatted the second hard drive. Now here's the weird part, I use Lilo (LInux LOader) to get into Windows even though it's my only OS

Put the drives in separate mobile racks (about $7 ea) and can power on/off which ever OS you want and never have a boot loader problem.
