MicroAdvantage CDRW-Doesn't Detect

I bought this CDRW at OfficeMax for 59.99-40.00 rebate and it doesn't seem to work. Windows Detected it as CDWRITER IDE5224. the brand is Micro Advantage 52x24x52x. When I go to Nero, I have my own version, and I even tried the version that came with the CDRW, and listed in the Recorders window is just the Virtual Recorder thing. Where is my Drive at??
Has anyone else bought this drive and tried it out???

Oh, I also forgot to say that Nero Detects it as an unsupported CDROM Device as well in the Autodetect CDROM Devices. I had a SONY CDRW in here before and it worked flawlessly....

maybe a compatibility issue.... what version of Nero do you have?

THey usually release patches to add more support for other CDRWs.

Maybe the version you have is too old?

DO you have installed service pack 1? Not sure if that would help but, u never know.

The version is 5.5.9.0. No, I don't have the SP1. I don't really want to download a huge file on 56k either...
What version are you using?

I use NTI CD Maker and when installing many of the newer 52x drives you need to go to their website and download a new data base file that supports the newer drives. Another issue I ran across recently, I had one 52x cdrw that required replacing the aspi files in Windows to function properly. This was a common problem in very old burners but I hadn't run across it in years.

I'm using Nero 6 right now, but I believe there's an update for Nero 5.5.9.0 to 5.5.10.42

http://nero.com/us/631933457317970.html

or somthing like that..

Maybe that would help.

Hey! I was snooping around the Nero CD that came with it and looked in the NERO folder, and for some reason there isn't one big install file. So, I ran NERO and it asked for a key, and I put MY 5.5.9.0 key in and its working! Wahoo! Now to try burning a CD!
Thanks for helping guys
