it's been a few weeks since i built my computer and today i tried burning my first CD with it. the drive came with Nero express and i tried using it. no dice. I then installed Nero5. but it only recognizes the drive (Lite-On) as an image recorder. I want to burn a music Disc. plz help.
Try uninstalling the drive in the device manager after you delete the drivers. Restart your computer and new hardware found *CDRW ) should appear and ask for the drivers. Use the software disc that came with the burner. If you don't get the box, highlight the cdrw in the device mgr. Under properties choose reinstall drivers and take it from there . Hope this helps

Your cdrom may be one of those "unsupported" devices. My sis got a new burner packed with nero and she can't use incd because her drive are not supported. Everything else worked though.
I had the same issue a while back. Obtain the latest version of Nero and InCD. That should resolve it. I assume you can currently read from discs put in this drive, correct?
just so you know the exact model # it's a Lite-On LTR-52327S.
the device can read discs fine. I play games with the drive. I googled the model number and it is a CD-RW, I was afraid Newegg had sent me a regular drive (despite the three #'s on the drive face).
when i click on properties in device manager it says it's a CD-Rom. should it say this or should it show up as CD-RW??
Hannibal: I initially installed the drive with the Nero Express cd that came with it and it didn't work. that's why I'm annoyed.
It should show the mfgr and type of drive. My Plextor reads CD-R
and My Liteon reads DVD. If it's reading CD Rom , it's not being recognized as a CD-R. Have you tried it in another machine???
