My Choice?
Dont you see my picture? If you dont then this is my answer: IBM Why?:
-Because it has been on the market for a very long time
-Expensive? Yes, but worth the price, quality is great
-Business Ready
-Extremely Handsome (minor point)
-Good Benchmarks (mostly, depends)
-Great Service and Support
-I can go on and on and on...

I'd have to say IBM as well. I still have a PS/1 486 SX25 that runs perfectly.

I still prefer building them rather then buying them but IBM is still good to me.

I've had many Toshibas I couldn't break no matter what I tried (even spilling liquid on the keyboard). I've shepherded many Compaqs and had frequent problems, especially with hard drives.

Toshiba, thumbs up... Compaq, thumbs down.

Owned one Gateway, worked great, no problems and they were the only PC manufacturer selling in Japan at the time who would deliver to the mountain wilderness in which I dwelled. Great machine, great service, good price...

Many of the Dells/Gateways use cheaper components like SIS video cards. IBM's generally have much higher quality components and the PC is built on very sturdy cases.
