First of all, you could've bought something just as good for a lot less money. A 5$ NIC will be just as good and dependable as this Micro$oft product. That said, theMicrosoft Wired Ethernet PCI Adapter MN-130 is a PCI card so it sounds as though you're trying to put it in an ISA slot. Either get a new computer or return that PCI card and call around to locate an ISA card.

?confused? Didn't know any PCI cards having 3 parts to the connectors. Unless it's 64 bit or something, designed for 64 bit bords? (never seen one, so I dunno about that).

Sounds wierd. Take it back, get a proper 32bit PCI one.

Cheers
Mick

that's wierd, it says in the manual that the host interface is PCI Bus compliant to PCI spec 2.2; 32-bit.

And here's a comparison of 32 and 64 bit PCI slots.

If that's not the answer, you've got me stumped. A photo of the card would be good if you can take one, in that case.

Cheers

Hmm, gets weirder. Just checked a pic of that card. Does look like it needs a 64bit slot.

Nothing in the info to say it needs one, though.

Take it back and get a true 32 bit slot card instead.

Cheers
Mick

OK, I just went thru my stash of spare PCI cards. Of the 3 sound cards, 2 video cards, and 5 NICs, 7 of them have an extra slot cut in the card edge with the contacts, 3 of them only have 1 slot in the normal position.

All of these cards function perfectly, whether they have the extra slot or not.

Slinky, could you take a pic of the two cards next to each other so that we could compare the connectors? If you don't have a digital cam, a flatbed scanner takes pretty good pics of circuit boards
