Can't delete my network

I had corrupted my system in downloading a program which was totally unrelated to my network. However, in doing so I was forced to do a system restore on one computer(with printer attached) and a reinstall on XP on the other. Now I can't seem to connect them anymore.I tried to delete the network group and XP will not let me.thes are two computers sharing a cable/DST router.Printer won't work. I just want to delete all networking and start over.
After doing the reinstall and restore I did delete the groups and re did the network. However I can't seem to get printer to work at all. So I wanted to delete again (all) and start over. Any input will be apopreciated. Thanks tbt

Update with My Network Places. On the system in which I did a re-install of XP. I am no longer allowed to view work groups.I am the only user set up on these PC's.I can view group on living room but not on bedroom.

You mean a virus, right? Otherwise I'm at a loss as to what you mean.

If it was a virus, make sure its gone. Some linger nastily. Use virus removal tools or follow virus removal directions form anti-virus utility sites.

Easist way to remove network is to disable the network interface card (NIC). Should work for both XP and other windoze versions. Once NIC is disabled, try removing all network components with control panel add/remove windows components.

Cheers

Will try that. Thanks. Can I disable it even though it's both onboard LAN? Through device manager, right?

BTW it wasn't a virus, it was a DVD/macrovision/Media Player 9/beta Detonator driver/VIPlayer/window wouldn't let me restore issue.
