RTCW a no go

this is what i get in a "et" box after i installed and attempted to play rtcw that i downloaded today:

the last line above this one(Q_stmcpy; NULL src) is blinking in the box header of the "message alert box" that comes up when clicking on the desktop shortcut.

something else acted up the otherday too,when i tryed to play some other game i downloaded. couldnt play that one either,for some reason

i have dx 8.1 installed.

oh,yea,now i remember:

the other message i was getting had something to do with open gl.(when trying to play that other game)

any ideas??

Correct me if I'm wrong but from the looks of it, it looks like you installed ET over RTCW.

ET and RTCW are two completely seperate from each other, ET is not an expansion for RTCW.

draboo I had a similar problem after installing my new Radeon card. Are you running a Radeon card with a VIA chipset by any chance?

Uninstalling the existing Catalyst drivers, installing DX9.0b, latest VIA 4in1 drivers and then latest Catalyst 3.6 drivers fixed it for me.

[edit] aha I see from your sig you have a geforce. well it was worth a try maybe the info can help someone else [/edit]

i have found that when there is problems with opengl, an uninstall reinstall of the video drivers fixes the problem. With MOHAA, if opengl gets messed up and it wont start, i just reinstall the video drivers and boom, its working again.
