modem not detecting adsl line

i have recently got an internal pci generic dsl modem. it uses the conexant chipset. when i install it it goes in fine and the Conexant AccessRunner software connects to the line fine after about a minute. i can then connect to my isp and use the internet. however when i turn the comp off and reboot the access runner software does not connect to the dsl line it just says line down. if i uninstall and reinstall it works fine again. i am using xp pro and am becoming annoyed with this constant reinstalling of the modem to get it to work. any suggestions or thoughs on this would be gratefully appriciated.

Is this AccessRunner installed as a service? If it is you may have to tell the service to run automatically when the pc starts. To see what services are running on your pc go to ControlPanel>Administrative Tools>Services.

Is there a configuration page for the modem? Maybe a setting need to be changed? When you reboot if you look in the device manager is the modem listed and are there any errors?

tried every imagineable setting in the config. no conflict at reboot. tried all pci slots and still it wont connect at bootup.
