Win Xp Pro install. A friend installed Win XP Pro over Win 2k pro without formatting hard drive. He had to skip like 3 files that were not found, but did not write them down. My system seemd to be working fine, but I want to know if there is a way to do a check if there are any missing system files. Would I have a better chance of not getting any missing files if I do a clean install, or should I even worry if the OS is working.
If there were files missing, it wouldn't have finished the install, all it lets you do is retry it. Its normally a sign of faulty memory, but I wouldn't worry about it in this case, as it got through it.
