compact flash speed?

I find some that say 12x (lexar), but most don't say anything. Is that Lexar just trying to use a selling point? Is there any real difference between manufacturers?

This is the one I'm interested in.

Thanks

i would check with the manufactuer of your camera first. i have heard stories of some brands of mem did not work in some cameras . i have that same brand CF card in my camera( Nikon coolpix 3100) and i have not had any problems
the "x" is the speed of the card (how fast it stores the pic) the card i have does not say the speed on it .

here is a link to the manufactuer

1X equals 150 kilobytes (KB) per second. The higher the speed rating, the faster your camera will be able to write images to the memory card.

1024 Bytes = 1 KB (kilobyte)

1024 Kilobytes = 1 MB (megabyte)

1024 Megabytes = 1 GB (gigabyte)

The camera I ordered is the Canon A70. I couldn't find anything on the write speed of it. It just says type I.

The largest pic is 1.6mb and the CF card says 3mb per second so I would think that .5 seconds between pics if fine for me. It probably exceds the camera shooting speed any way.

Thanks
