What OS are you running. Does the board have onboard sound?

1 .Device Manager - Remove all sound components
2. BIOS - Disable on board sound noteont touch any Jumpers
3. Set up new sofware via http://www.americas.creative.com/sup...sp?rd=download download then install the drivers
4. Hook up your speakers to the appropriate sound card.
5. Get rid of Windows ME it sucks
6. If you still have trouble then repeat step 5.

LOL!

I couldn't agree more with no.5 . I also have Creative Live 5.1 and for some unknown reason it gets into all sorts of problems with my Windows Me then. That's why I had my computer installed with Windows 2000 Professional - soundcard works like a dream. Get W2K OR Windows XP Professional for your OS.

Aside from the previous suggestions may I suggest starting from scratch - back-up your files, go to BIOS and disable onboard sound, check to see if the soundcard is properly installed, install a new OS and the motherboard components then install the SOUNDCARD FIRST before installing anything else (videocard, modem, etc.) From my experience Soundcards are like some girls I know - they're pretty fickle. If you don't install them first they end up creating lots of IRQ conflicts especially with the videocard.

Hope I helped

I looked for the manual on this MB and all I can find is in Chinese. It does say on the site the MB is jumperless although you say it is jumpered.

Re-check your BIOS settings and the manual. I have never heard of on-board sound not being able to be disabled. (Of course there many things I've never heard. )

Based on your info this is what I would do:

1. Ensure the jumper issue versus able/disabled.
2. Remove the soundcard in device manager.
3. Shut down.
4. Remove the soundcard and re-boot without it.
5. Check device manager to ensure that you have no soundcards listed. (you should not have any if everything is going right)
6. If #5 has checked out shut down and re-install your card.
7. Re-boot.
8. DO NOT LET WIN ME INSTALL THE NEW HARDWARE!!! Cancel any installation attempt of the card.
9. Re-check device manager to ensure there are no cards listed.
10. Pop in the CD from Creative and install from there. The menu should be obvious. If not there should be an install gudie on the CD.
(I'd tell you what to look for but have no idea where my 12 year old put my 5.1 CD )

11. After install is complete check device manager to ensure that it is listed properly. Creative should be listed.
12. Just for the hell of it .... re-boot.
13. Re-check device manager .... just for the hell of it.
14. If OK, now try to install the software.
15. Good luck and post back your results.

Would you believe that the A7V333 has a jumper to make it jumperless!. I just disabled the onboard sound with the jumper. Note though that the onboard sound is probably almost as good as the soundblaster live.

Don't waste your time installing another OS! You need to disable the onboard audio. This is the problem. Once you figure that out then remove all audio drovers and reinstall the newest ones for your card. Focus on the problem, telling the guy to install another OS may cause him more problems then he has now. I agree W2K or XP is better than Me, but this problem should be able to be rectified without installing a new OS.

Follow Bill's directions.
