Depends on what you want to do with it. AMD 2000 cpu is clocked slower (at 1.67) but has a performance of a 2.0 (compared to T-bird) while the Intel 2.0 is 2.0.

Yes...They'll each win certain benchmarks, but they're pretty much the same as far as performance.

At the 2000+/2.0ghz level, I'd say the AthlonXP is faster.

Check it

They are both good for gaming. Depends on the gfx card too. I have heard AMD is better for gaming. Thats what I use.
It's all a matter of taste. It's like comparing apples vs oranges. Most people on here are pro AMD.

The below prices were found at NewEgg:

AMD ATHLON XP 2400 /266 FSB PROCESSOR CPU - RETAIL $86.00

Intel Pentium 4 / 2.4CGHz 512k socket 478 Hyper Threading Technology 800 MHz FSB - RETAIL $173.00

This is why I'm an AMD fan.

When it comes to gaming, video speed is the biggest factor. If you don't got it, it ain't going to work no matter how fast a cpu you stick in. Like nova said, don't ever get a celeron.

***YAWN**** This AGAIN?

Everyone has their own personal preference for their own reasons. It is pretty much personal choice. Either will serve you well.
