new mobo/chip worth it?

Is it even worth "upgrading" right now with a new nforce2 mobo and Athlon XP processor? I mean the new Athlon 64 and Pentium Prescotts are just around the corner and the new motherboards that support them.

If I upgrade now, am I just wasting my money. Should I wait until technology takes its next giant leap?

What I usually do is buy last year's technology. I don't have the money to buy the newest stuff. If you wait, you'll see their prices going down.

That's what I thought last year...and I waited and waited for Athlon 64s to come, and they didn't. I personally think they'll be delayed again.

I know they have been delayed before, but I;ve been reading a lot of news and it just seems that they are really close. A lot of sources say beginning of Sept. Beofre HL2 comes out. I wonder how HL2 will play on Athlon 64.
