Network So SLoooowww

My home network is so slow.. I noticed on one of my Win2k box's the nic was sending out a lot of packets. So I replaced that nic, with a new one. THe network worked good for about a day then the same thing starting happening and the new NIC sent out a lot of packets again, and when i disable it the network is much better.

Is it possible for two nics to be bad.. or could it be the pci slot that is ruining them??

The nic may not be the issue...may be virus or spyware or a rogue program or setting.
Dont limit your evaluation to just the hardware.

I dont think it is, because I have run spybots and ad aware. what do I need to check for in the software scheme of thngs?

Try running your anti-virus software. You may have a trojan that is attempting to access the internet and is flooding your network with traffic.

By the way, spybot and ad-aware only search for spyware, so it'll be no use for you if you're dealing with a trojan or virus.

try a packet sniffer to see exactly what type of stuff is being sent...
