Win XP Pro Stalls during install

I'm also upgrading an old CTX notebook to Win XP. I reformated the hard drive and and it seems to be taking a long time during "installing windows" "36 minutes" remaining. I let it run all night only to find a dialog box with "OK" and no words.

When I select OK, it reboots then goes back to "restarrting setup" and back to "36 minutes" remaining.

Gaming

Hey.. First thing I would do is to identify the brand of hard drive, go to the manufacturer's website and download the hard drive utilities and run diagnostics to fix any problems. Then I would write "Zeros" to the drive ( included in tools from mfgr ) Then format and try to re-install. Will take a bit of time but I've had success with hdd that otherwise seemed bad. Good luck

P.S. Where on L.I.. I grew up in Flushing and spent many days out on the Island

pickel, that's a good idea. It seemed like a hdd prob to me too. I'm trying a Win 2003 Server install on this laptop and it stalls in the same place 35 minutes left.

I'm in Baldwin.
