ge force mx 400 graphics card

Can any one help me i'm running win 98 with a ge-force 2 mx400 graphics card and for some reason when i want to play a game my computer locks up after about 2 mins and i have to reboot with anything other applications it works fine just my games cause this problem i'm running amd xp 2000+1.7 ghz processor with 128 ddr memory. this is a recent problem didn't do it before.
help me.

What game is locking up?

Does you card have a fan on the GPU? It may be overheating.

yes...which game? I have a geforce 2 mx400, but switched it with a geforce 3. Let me tell you something about the MX series. If it says MX, its for office use. You have the worst card possible of the series. Your card is a piece of crap, and I don't think you'll have any luck running games. I know I didn't, because its too slow. Also a severe-low end card like the one I have doesn't have a fan on it.

Some games try to install a newer or sometimes older verion of Direct X wich can cause some problems with certain cards...if this is a new problem and it happened after installing a game then that may be it...try installing another version of DX and/or newest video drivers for your card.
